Nickola, his usual boisterous energy subdued, sat on the edge of a plush chaise, his gaze fixed on a single, discarded satin pointe shoe. It was Anya’s, still bearing the faint imprint of her delicate foot, a stark reminder of the fragility of what they had fought to protect. He reached out, his fingers brushing the worn fabric, a silent testament to Anya’s resilience. “He almost broke her, Dmitri,” Nickola murmured, his voice rough with emotion. “Volkov.
