Chapter 9
A Difficult Conversation
Lola, Alex, and Ben agree to meet. The air is thick with unspoken emotions as they prepare to discuss the future, the babies, and the uncharted territory they now inhabit.
The coffee shop buzzed with its usual mid-morning hum, a symphony of clinking ceramic, hushed conversations, and the comforting hiss of the espresso machine. The chime above the door announced their arrival, and Lola’s breath hitched. Alex entered first, his usual easy stride a little more measured, his eyes scanning the room until they found her. He offered a small, hesitant smile, a silent acknowledgment of the gravity of their meeting. Then Ben followed, his vibrant energy a little subdued, a faint crease of concern etched between his brows. He, too, found her, his gaze softening as he approached.
