The air grows heavy with ancient magic as they near the dragons' domain. Shadows lengthen, and the first signs of the formidable guardians appear.
The air in the Dragon Peaks was a different kind of cold, a biting, ancient chill that seeped into bone and spirit. It wasn’t just the altitude; it was the palpable weight of age, of power slumbering and vast, that pressed down on Elara, Leo, and Finn. Each gust of wind seemed to carry a whisper of forgotten ages, a low growl that vibrated in their very teeth. They had left the relative warmth of the Whispering Caves hours ago, the hermit’s cryptic warnings about the dragons’ resentful hearts echoing in their minds. Now, the path ahead narrowed, winding between jagged peaks that clawed at the bruised twilight sky.
Elara felt it first, a prickling sensation on her skin, like a thousand tiny sparks dancing just beneath the surface. It was a sensation she hadn't felt in a long time, a ghost of magic that had recently returned, fragile and uncertain. This was different, though. This was a resonance, a hum that seemed to answer the very essence of the mountains. She glanced at Leo, his brow furrowed in concentration as he scanned the treacherous terrain, and then at Finn, whose eyes were wide with a mixture of awe and trepidation, his usual boisterous energy subdued by the sheer scale of their surroundings.
"It feels… alive," Elara murmured, her voice barely audible above the wind.
