Chapter 12
Lyra's Reckoning
Under duress, Lyra's forbidden magic erupts violently. She must learn to control this untamed power before it consumes her or is used against her coven.
The crimson moon, a swollen, bruised eye in the velvet night, bled its infernal light onto Oakhaven. It was a light that did not illuminate, but rather deepened the shadows, twisting familiar shapes into monstrous forms. Her hand rested on my shoulder, a solid weight that should have anchored me, but it felt like a fragile barrier against the deluge threatening to break free. “Hold fast, child,” she murmured, her voice a low rumble, like stones grinding together. “We are with you.” Her loyalty was a comfort, a single, unwavering star in this swirling vortex of fear. But even her strength felt insufficient against the escalating chaos.
