The air in Elara’s small cottage, usually so warm and inviting, now felt thick with an unspoken tension. A storm, not of nature but of magic, was brewing, and its tendrils were already reaching for them. The Sorceress, a creature of ambition and shadow, had made her intentions clear with a chilling display of power. Last night, as Elara slept, a spectral chill had seeped through the walls, and a whisper, like ice cracking on a frozen lake, had slithered into her dreams. It spoke of possession, of claims, of a darkness that would consume her if she dared to stand in its way.
Abraham had been there, of course, a steady anchor in the swirling unease. He’d found her trembling, her eyes wide with a fear she hadn’t felt since their first meeting. He’d simply held her, his touch a balm, his presence a fortress. But even he, with all his reassuring strength, couldn’t entirely banish the icy tendrils that now seemed to cling to the very fabric of their lives.
“She’s growing bolder,” Abraham murmured, his voice a low rumble against Elara’s hair as they sat by the hearth, the fire’s flickering light doing little to dispel the encroaching gloom. “Her magic is… invasive. It seeks to sow discord, to chip away at what we’ve built.”
