Chapter 15
The Leader Revealed
Eleanor finally confronts Silas Thorne, the charismatic leader of the society. In a tense exchange, he reveals the society's motives, framing their actions as necessary for global stability, the 'unseen war' as a means to an end.

At its center, bathed in the ethereal glow of a single, unshaded bulb that hummed with a low, steady power, sat a man. He was not what she had pictured. No hooded figure, no sinister mastermind lurking in the darkness. He was simply a man, seated at a polished wooden table, his hands resting calmly before him.
