Elder Rowan, his gnarled fingers tracing patterns on a polished stone, watched her with eyes that held the wisdom of ages and a sorrow that seemed to mirror the sky above. Aria nodded, her throat tight. Every step deeper into the Whispering Woods had been a brush with the unknown, a chilling encounter with a darkness she’d never imagined.
