Anya Sharma clutched the worn leather satchel to her chest as if it were a shield. The air in Corbin’s cramped office felt thick with unspoken questions, each tick of the cheap wall clock a hammer blow against her frayed nerves. She’d spent the last forty-eight hours replaying Dr. Reed’s final frantic call, the choked whispers, the metallic clang that had ended their conversation.
