The air at the ruins of Eldoria was thick with the scent of damp earth and something else, something ancient and charged, like ozone before a storm. Detective Miles Corbin pushed aside a curtain of moss-laden vines, his flashlight beam cutting through the gloom. Anya Sharma, her face a mask of grim determination, followed close behind, her own light dancing over crumbling stone. They had traced the last of Dr. Reed’s coded breadcrumbs to this forgotten place, a nexus point whispered about in hushed tones by scholars for centuries.

The tablet, heavy and cool in Corbin’s hand, pulsed faintly, a resonance that seemed to vibrate not just through his fingers, but through his very bones. Dr. Reed’s final message, a jumble of symbols and astronomical alignments, had pointed here, to a place where the veil between worlds, or so the legends claimed, was thinnest. He’d dismissed it as fanciful nonsense until the artifact, clutched in the dead archaeologist’s hand, had begun to hum a tune only he seemed to hear, a tune that now echoed in the hollow spaces of Eldoria.

“This is it,” Anya breathed, her voice barely a whisper. “The heart of Eldoria. The texts spoke of a central chamber, a place of… convergence.”
