The location indicated by the star chart is an ancient, remote ruin. Corbin and Anya believe this is where the 'heart' is located, and where Vance plans to seize control. They must get there before him.
The relentless hum of the helicopter blades was a dull thrum against Corbin’s skull, a stark contrast to the buzzing silence that had filled Dr. Reed’s study just days ago. Beside him, Anya Sharma, her face pale but resolute, clutched a worn leather-bound journal. The parchment maps and cryptic astronomical charts they’d painstakingly pieced together had finally yielded a destination: a place marked by a constellation known only to the most ancient of navigators, a place now identified as a remote, crumbling ruin nestled deep within an unforgiving mountain range.
"Are you sure about this, Anya?" Corbin’s voice was rough, the edge of exhaustion sharpening its tone. He’d barely slept, fueled by stale coffee and a gnawing sense of dread that tightened its grip with every passing hour. Vance and his Shadows were a ghost, always one step ahead, their influence a suffocating fog.
Anya nodded, her gaze fixed on the jagged peaks that began to pierce the bruised twilight sky. "The star chart, the alignment… it all points here. Dr. Reed believed the ‘heart’ of the civilization, their primary power source, was housed in a place of great antiquity. This ruin… it predates anything we know of.” Her voice, though quiet, held a conviction that Corbin had come to rely on. She’d shed her initial timidity, a nascent courage blooming in the fertile soil of grief and determination.
