Dr. Alistair Finch, his fingers smudged with the dust of centuries, hunched over a brittle ledger, a faint tremor running through his usually steady hands. Clara Vance stood beside him, her arms crossed, a familiar impatience warring with a growing unease. They had spent days sifting through the detritus of Atheria’s past, a labyrinth of faded ink and brittle parchment, searching for any echo of the legend, any whisper of the sanctuary.
“Anything?” Clara’s voice was a low murmur, barely disturbing the sepulchral quiet.
