Zade Arkin’s opulent study, usually a sanctuary of hushed negotiations and calculated moves, now crackled with an almost palpable rage. The mahogany desk, polished to a mirror sheen, bore the imprint of his clenched fist. The news had arrived like a poisoned dart, sharp and laced with betrayal. Lily, his Lily, was not merely a pawn in some grander game; she was the target. And worse, the whispers spoke of an alliance, a mingling of bloodlines that threatened to unravel the very fabric of his empire.

He paced the plush Persian rug, his tailored suit a dark silhouette against the rich crimson and gold. The portraits of his ancestors, stern men who had built this dynasty with blood and iron, seemed to watch him, their painted eyes accusing. He had always been a man of foresight, of meticulous planning. Yet, this – this unexpected entanglement, this audacious threat to his progeny – had caught him off guard. And Zade Arkin did not tolerate being caught off guard.

The heavy oak door creaked open, admitting Victor, Xavier’s lieutenant. Victor’s face, usually a mask of stoic efficiency, held a flicker of apprehension. He knew Zade. He knew the storm that brewed within the Arkin king.
