The air in the hidden glen, usually a sanctuary of hushed breezes and dappled sunlight, now thrummed with a desperate urgency. Elara’s fingers, usually tracing the delicate veins of a sunpetal, now clenched the worn fabric of her gown, her knuckles stark white against the golden weave. Kael stood before her, his usual shadowed composure fractured, the moonlight that clung to him like a shroud seeming to ebb and flow with the tempest in his eyes. The news of the skirmish, of Solarian blood spilled on Lunarian soil, had reached them like a poisoned arrow, piercing the fragile peace they had so painstakingly cultivated.

"It's worse than we feared, Elara," Kael’s voice was a low growl, rough with a pain that mirrored her own. "My father has ordered a retaliatory strike. He speaks of ancient oaths, of reclaiming what was lost."

Elara’s breath hitched. "And my father… he rallies the Sun Guard. He speaks of Solara’s honor, of never yielding to the shadows. Theron is blinded by his pride, Kael. He sees only the enemy, never the possibility of peace."
