The gilded halls of Solara, usually alive with the hum of gentle conversation and the scent of blooming jasmine, now seemed to hold their breath. A tremor, subtle yet undeniable, ran through the sunlight-drenched kingdom. It began not as a roar, but as a murmur, a whisper that snaked through the courtyards and along the sun-baked battlements. Rumors, like dandelion seeds caught on the wind, found fertile ground in the fertile minds of courtiers and sentinels alike. Princess Elara, the jewel of Solara, the embodiment of its radiant spirit, was showing an unnerving fascination with Lunara.
King Theron, his sun-kissed skin etched with the lines of a thousand sunrises and a few too many grim dawns, felt the disquietude settle upon his own regal brow. He sat upon his throne, the golden sunburst emblem behind him seeming to pulse with his own growing discomposure. His advisors, their faces a mixture of concern and veiled disapproval, cast furtive glances his way.
“My King,” began Lord Valerius, his voice a low rasp, “the whispers grow louder. They speak of the Princess… her prolonged absences from the royal gardens, her inquiries into matters concerning the shadowed lands.”
