Tapestries depicting legendary victories against the shadowed folk of Lunara hung heavy, their threads woven with the ancient animosity that had long defined their kingdoms. Elara stood before her father, her heart a frantic drum against her ribs. The air crackled with an unspoken tension, thick as the scent of wilting roses.

King Theron, his sun-kissed skin usually a testament to his kingdom's vibrant spirit, looked etched with a new severity. His gaze, typically warm and paternal, now held the sharp edge of a blade. He had summoned her, a rare occurrence outside of state affairs, and the summons itself felt like a prelude to judgment.

"Elara," his voice, usually a resonant baritone, was strained, like a lute string pulled too taut. "Your attendance at court has been... distracted. Your laughter, once as bright as the Solaran dawn, is now a mere echo. Your eyes, which should hold the fire of our sun, seem to gaze at distant horizons, horizons that do not belong to us."
