Chapter 8
The neverending darkness
Sofie confronts the darkness that has been haunting her.
The air in Sofie’s bedroom had grown thick, heavy with an oppressive silence that pressed in on her eardrums. Dylan’s confession, delivered in hushed, urgent tones, still echoed in the cavernous space of her mind. *Almost kidnapped. A man watching. The darkness wasn't just a figment of her imagination; it was a predator, and it had been patiently waiting.

The man, the attempted abduction – it was a twisted baptism into this waking nightmare. He had been there, a phantom in the periphery of her existence, feeding on the fear that had always lurked just beneath the surface of her consciousness. Now, that fear had a face, a form, a terrifying purpose.
