The air in the grand hall crackled, thick with an energy that vibrated deep within Thea’s bones. It was the culmination, the precipice she’d been hurtling towards since the crimson tide had first stained her sheets and the silence of her mother’s absence had become a deafening roar. The arcane symbols etched into the ancient stone floor pulsed with a sickly green luminescence, casting long, distorted shadows that danced like wraiths. Before her, the spectral entity, Lord Valerius, solidified from the swirling mist, his form more defined than ever, his eyes, pools of starlight and shadow, fixed solely on her.

This was the ritual, the culmination of her grandmother’s cryptic will, her mother’s unspoken fears, and Valerius’s insatiable hunger. The pact his spectral whispers had woven around her, promising power, protection, and a reunion of sorts with the echoes of her mother, now demanded its price. Her soul.

“Thea,” Valerius’s voice, a silken caress laced with the chill of ages, resonated through the hall, each syllable a drop of poison and honey. “You stand at the threshold of eternity. Your choice will echo through the ages.”
