The air in this place was thick, not with the usual Seattle mist, but with an oppressive, cloying scent that Anya couldn’t quite place. She’d stepped through the crimson gate, a shimmering, impossible tear in reality, and now she stood on ground that pulsed with a faint, sickly luminescence. The world around her was a tapestry of jagged, obsidian spires that clawed at a sky the color of bruised plums, and twisted, bioluminescent flora that pulsed with an eerie, internal light.

Her breath hitched. This was it. The Weaver’s domain. The place where the severed limbs and exsanguinated bodies from her city were brought. The place from which the tendrils of fear had begun to snake into the waking world. But it wasn’t just the alien landscape that assaulted her senses. It was the insidious way the very air seemed to whisper her name, twisting it into a chorus of accusations. *Failure. Unworthy. Lost.*

Anya pushed the phantom voices away, focusing on the feel of her Sig Sauer in her hand, the familiar weight a small anchor in this sea of disorientation. Captain Rostova’s words, delivered with a rare tremor of urgency, echoed in her mind: *“This is where it wants you, Anya. Where it can feed on what you hide.”*
