The dull ache in my fingertips was a familiar stranger, a phantom limb of a life I couldn't quite grasp. I’d spent so long adrift in the fog of forgetting, a ghost haunting the edges of my own existence. Yet, here I was, standing in a room filled with the scent of turpentine and linseed oil, a place that felt both alien and achingly, profoundly, mine. It was Amy’s studio, a sanctuary she’d built with her own two hands, a space overflowing with the vibrant chaos of creation. Canvases leaned against walls like sleeping giants, brushes bristled in jars like defiant bouquets, and the air thrummed with a silent energy that seemed to whisper forgotten secrets.

I knew, with a certainty that bypassed my fractured memory, that this was my language. This was how I used to speak.

Amy watched me from across the room, her gaze a gentle current, never forcing, always present. She’d been a constant in the swirling vortex of my recovery, a steady hand in the storm. She remembered me, even when I couldn't remember myself. She’d found me, a broken shell on the side of the road, and had patiently, painstakingly, helped me stitch myself back together.
