The air in the wild dog's lair was thick with the scent of dust and dominance. Luna and Skye stood their ground, flanks pressed together, a silent testament to their growing alliance. Before them, a hulking brute of a dog, the alpha, paced with a low growl rumbling in his chest. His fur was matted, his eyes gleamed with a territorial ferocity that spoke of a life lived by tooth and claw. He was the embodiment of the wild, untamed spirit that Luna had always feared, the very force threatening to consume her own fading forest.

“So,” the alpha’s voice was a guttural rasp, laced with suspicion, “you two strays think you can waltz into my domain and demand passage?” He sneered, a flash of yellowed teeth. “You reek of the soft woods. Of weakness.”

Luna’s hackles rose, a primal instinct to defend her territory, even this borrowed, hostile one. But Skye nudged her gently with her shoulder, a silent plea for calm. Luna took a deep breath, the acrid smell of the lair doing little to soothe her nerves. She remembered the dream, the shimmering bones, the desperate need of her home. This confrontation was inevitable.
