Chapter 11

Javier confronts the idling car at the end of Nia's driveway. The driver is a man named Cisco, an old associate from California who warns Javier that more are coming. Javier refuses to return to his old life, but Cisco leaves with a threat. Later that night, Javier and Nia discuss their next steps, and Isaiah overhears part of the conversation. The chapter ends with Javier deciding to take the boys fishing the next day as a way to hold onto normalcy, but the tension lingers.
