Chapter 9
The Forest Guardian's Lesson
Leo meets the Forest Guardian. It reveals Maya and Sam are safe, learning the forest's secrets. The Guardian explains its role and the importance of respecting nature.

This light seemed to come from everywhere at once, seeping from the mossy ground, filtering through the impossibly tall trees, and even emanating from the very air itself. It was a light that whispered of ancient secrets and quiet strength. Leo, clutching his grandfather’s map, felt a tremor of awe run through him. It had no sharp edges, no defined features, yet Leo felt an undeniable presence, a warmth that spread through his chest like mulled cider on a cold evening. This, he knew with a certainty that bypassed thought, was the Forest Guardian.
“You have come far, little one,” a voice echoed, not from any particular point, but from within the glade itself, a chorus of rustling leaves and trickling water. It was a voice that held the wisdom of centuries, gentle and reassuring.
