He remembered his grandfather’s stories, tales whispered by the firelight about an ancient spirit, a gentle guardian who cared for the forest and all its inhabitants. At the time, they had seemed like fanciful myths, the kind of stories old men told to amuse children. But now, standing in this enchanted glade, with the strange, peaceful hum filling his ears, he began to wonder.
