The air, once alive with the gentle rustling of leaves and the chirping of unseen birds, now vibrated with a sound that froze the very marrow in Noeh’s bones. It was a roar, deep and guttural, a sound that spoke of ancient power and an unyielding hunger. It ripped through the quiet of the forest, tearing at the peace Noeh had found beneath his beloved tree. He stumbled, his heart leaping into his throat like a frightened bird. Every instinct screamed danger, a primal alarm that drowned out the soft murmurs of faith he usually held so close.

He didn't need to see the beast to know its magnitude. The sheer force of the sound seemed to push against him, a physical wave of terror. He could almost feel the vibrations of the lion’s chest as it bellowed, the earth itself trembling beneath its mighty presence. Noeh scrambled to his feet, his worn sandals slipping on the fallen leaves. His legs, which had carried him through many years of hardship with a steady gait, now felt like lead, heavy and unresponsive. Yet, a desperate surge of adrenaline propelled him forward. He ran, not with the grace of a hunter or the speed of a seasoned runner, but with the frantic, ungainly haste of prey.

Behind him, the forest floor thrashed. Branches snapped like dry twigs, and the undergrowth gave way with a violent tearing sound. He risked a fleeting glance over his shoulder, a mistake he immediately regretted. A blur of tawny fur, a flash of powerful limbs, and eyes that gleamed like twin embers in the dim light – it was closer than he had dared to imagine. The lion was a magnificent, terrifying creature, a king of its domain, and Noeh was but a trembling subject caught in its path.
