She encounters ancient, wise sea creatures. Their eyes hold the wisdom of ages, and they sense Elara's connection to the Lumina's plight.
The water here was different. Not just the way the Lumina pulsed, a vibrant, insistent thrum that vibrated through my very bones, but the *feel* of it. It was older, heavier, like breathing in the quiet sigh of the world turning. I had followed the strange current for what felt like days, the familiar glow of the Lumina around my little submersible a comforting constant, but now, as I drifted deeper, the light seemed to shimmer with a new kind of energy, a song only my soul could hear.
Then, I saw them. At first, they were just shadows, vast and slow-moving against the inky backdrop. But as my submersible nudged closer, their forms resolved, and my breath hitched in my throat. They were ancient, impossibly so. Great, gentle giants of the deep, their skin like polished obsidian, studded with patterns that mirrored the starlight I sometimes saw on the surface. Their eyes, though. Their eyes were like pools of captured Lumina, swirling with a wisdom that seemed to stretch back to the very beginning of the ocean.
One of them, larger than the others, drifted nearer. It had a serene majesty about it, its movements slow and deliberate, like the turning of tides. I felt no fear, only an overwhelming sense of awe and… recognition. As if I had known this creature, this moment, for a very long time. Its luminous eyes met mine, and a warmth spread through me, a silent understanding that transcended words.
