They reach the source of the darkness. Elara must now perform a sacred ritual, channeling her love and understanding of Lumina to push back the encroaching night.

The water here was different. It wasn't just the chill that seeped into my bones, a stark contrast to the usual warmth of the Lumina-filled currents. It was a stillness, a heavy blanket of quiet that pressed in on all sides. Even the Lumina, usually a vibrant chorus of blues and greens, seemed muted, its light a dull ache against the encroaching blackness. My heart hammered against my ribs, a frantic drumbeat in the oppressive silence. This was it, the source of the gloom, the place where the prophecy’s tendrils had coiled the tightest.

Beside me, the ancient Kelpie, his scales the color of twilight, let out a low, rumbling sigh. "We are here, Elara," his voice, usually a gentle murmur like waves on sand, now held a tremor of unease. "The heart of the shadow."

I looked around. The cavern walls, usually alive with the gentle glow of scattered Lumina, were stark and uninviting. Jagged rock formations loomed like skeletal fingers, and the Lumina that clung to them flickered weakly, as if struggling for breath. It felt like standing at the edge of a forgotten world, a place where light had long ago surrendered.
