The Elder Coral’s voice, a gentle rumble like the softest tide caressing ancient stones, filled the cavern. It spoke of a prophecy, of a darkness that would seek to swallow the Lumina whole, and of a guardian, chosen by the very light itself, who would stand against it. My breath hitched. My heart, which had been fluttering with a mix of awe and trepidation at the sight of these magnificent, ancient beings, now pounded against my ribs like a frantic pearl diver.

“Me?” I whispered, the word barely a ripple in the hushed air. “You mean… me?”

The Elder Coral, a colossal, moss-green structure that pulsed with a faint, internal glow, extended a gnarled, branch-like appendage towards me. Tiny, shimmering orbs of light danced along its surface. “The Lumina chooses its own, little cartographer. It has pulsed with a particular urgency for you, drawn by the keenness of your eyes and the tenderness of your spirit. You see its beauty, Elara, but you also feel its pain. This is the mark of a guardian.”
