The journal lay open on my lap, its pages a tapestry of faded ink and pressed flowers, each one a whisper from a life lived before mine. It was in these quiet moments, curled up in the forgotten corner of the library, that the world outside seemed to soften, its sharp edges blurring into a gentler hue. The heavy blanket of expectations that usually pressed down on me felt a little lighter, as if the words on the page had woven a protective shield around me.

I traced a drawing of a bird with impossibly long wings, its flight captured mid-air. It looked free, unburdened by gravity or the need to land. A familiar ache settled in my chest, a yearning for that kind of unhindered movement. The journal, with its cryptic entries and vivid sketches, was like a secret language only I could understand. It didn't offer answers, not directly, but it asked questions that resonated deep within me, questions I hadn't even known I possessed.

*“What color is the wind when no one is looking?”* one entry read, followed by a watercolor swirl of blues and greens. I closed my eyes, trying to conjure the image. The wind, to me, had always felt like a cool touch, a rustle of leaves, or the distant sigh of the sea. But the wind *colored*? It was a thought so strange, so wonderfully illogical, that it made me smile. It was a reminder that perhaps the world wasn't as strictly defined as I had been led to believe.
