  This is a story of a man by the name of Stephen Elrod. Who is strung out on drugs and alcohol to the point he is running scared. In complete meth induced psychosis, he checks into room 143 of the Briar Wood Motel in Alexandria Louisiana. He spends seven days and seven nights complete alone using drugs and alcohol courting suicide. He spends every day and night using meth and drinking straight burban liquor. Seeing and hearing things that are not there. Replaying memories of his entire life in his head. He has a colt 1911 with only two bullets.

  Main idea: In the near future, people born after 2035 are required to be microchipped and connected to a global consciousness network (no smartphones—the internet is right inside your head). The main character, a man in his thirties, has been “incompatible” since birth due to a rare brain anomaly. He is the last person in the world who lives completely offline. Plot: When the global network suddenly goes down and 99% of the population falls into a coma (or begins to ramble uncontrollably), he is the only one who remains sane. He must figure out what happened and save a world he has never understood and has always stood on the margins of.
