Elder Willow had spoken of a place, a sanctuary hidden within the heart of the whispering woods, where a shaman dwelled, a keeper of forgotten knowledge. It was a journey fraught with her own anxieties, a path she walked alone, the weight of the ailing herd a constant ache in her chest.
She’d followed the winding stream, its murmur a lullaby that soothed the ragged edges of her fear. The trees stood like silent sentinels, their branches tattooed against the pale sky, their roots grasping deep into the secrets of the earth. Sunlight dappled through the canopy, painting shifting patterns on the forest floor, moments of ethereal beauty that felt both a balm and a taunt. She saw a flash of russet – a fox, its eyes like polished obsidian, paused for a fleeting instant before melting back into the undergrowth, a fleeting guardian of this wild domain.
After what felt like an eternity, the trees thinned, revealing a small clearing bathed in an otherworldly luminescence. At its center stood a dwelling unlike any she had ever seen. It was woven from living branches, its roof a tapestry of moss and flowering vines, seeming to grow organically from the earth. Smoke, thin and fragrant, curled from a hearth within, carrying the scent of unfamiliar herbs. This was the place.
