The old sea turtle, Barnaby, watched Lily with eyes as deep and calm as the ocean floor. Her small face, still flushed with the day's sun and the wonder of the garden, was a picture of open curiosity. He had seen countless children, fleeting sparks of light against the vast expanse of time, but Lily… Lily held a different kind of glow, a resonance that echoed the very heart of the sea.
"You feel it, don't you, little one?" Barnaby's voice was a low rumble, like pebbles shifting on the seabed. "The pulse of the ocean. It is the breath of life, the song of ages."
Lily nodded, her gaze drifting to a cluster of anemones that swayed like silken dancers. "It feels… alive. Everything here is so bright, even when it’s deep."
