The old sea turtle, Barnaby, exhaled a slow stream of pearlescent bubbles that danced upwards like tiny, fleeting stars. Lily watched them with wide, curious eyes, her small hand resting gently on his ancient, barnacle-encrusted shell. The soft glow of the luminescent anemones cast an ethereal light on his wise, wrinkled face. The underwater garden was a symphony of hushed sounds – the gentle sway of kelp forests, the distant, melodic calls of unseen fish, and the quiet rhythm of Barnaby’s breathing.
“You see, little one,” Barnaby’s voice was a low rumble, like pebbles shifting on the seabed, “the ocean is not just water. It is memory. It is breath. It is a spirit that has flowed since the beginning of time.”
Lily tilted her head. “Memory? Like when I remember building a sandcastle, but it gets washed away?”
