Elara descends into the mountain's heart, confronted by the Shadow Weaver wearing her mother's voice. She reaches the artifact chamber, learns she must speak its true name, and steps forward despite the writhing roots.
The whisper coiled through the chamber like smoke, wrapping around the carved pillar, slithering along the stone floor. Elara pressed her back against the wall, her hand gripping the hilt of her knife. The blade was useless against a voice, against shadows, but she held it anyway.
"You're not real," she said, her voice steady despite the trembling in her chest. "You're just echoes from the Veilwood."
The whisper laughed—a dry, rasping sound that seemed to come from everywhere and nowhere at once. "Echoes. Yes. And you are a girl holding a knife in a mountain that has not been touched by light in a thousand years. Very different, we are."
