The city, a festering wound under a perpetual twilight sky, pulsed with a rhythm of desperate want. Its heart beat in the shadowed alleys, in the hushed exchanges behind crimson-lit windows, in the slick promises whispered on humid nights. This was Silas Croft’s domain, a kingdom built on the currency of fleeting pleasures and the slow erosion of souls. Marcus entered the room, his hulking frame casting long shadows, his eyes downcast, a practiced deference in his posture. “You wished to see me, Mr. Croft?” His voice was a low rumble, like distant thunder.
