The air in the Grand Market crackled with an unnatural chill, a stark contrast to the usual boisterous energy of a Saturday afternoon. My brush, the Great Brush, felt heavy in my hand, its familiar weight usually a comfort, but today it hummed with a nervous energy that mirrored my own. Dust motes danced in the shafts of sunlight piercing the market’s canvas roof, but they were soon swallowed by the encroaching darkness. It began as a tremor, a low rumble that vibrated through the cobblestone beneath my boots, and then, it bloomed.

An Abstract. Not just any Abstract, but one that pulsed with a raw, suffocating dread. It coalesced from the very shadows clinging to the market stalls, a shapeless mass of inky tendrils that writhed and lashed out. Panic erupted. Merchants screamed, their wares scattering like frightened birds. Families clutched each other, their faces pale masks of terror. This was the Abstract of Fear, a manifestation born from the city’s collective anxieties, and it was growing, feeding on the rising tide of panic.

My training kicked in, a desperate, ingrained response. Flame ink, ignite! I thrust the Great Brush forward, a torrent of crimson fire erupting from its tip. The heat billowed, scorching the air, and the flames lashed out, licking at the edges of the Abstract. It recoiled, a shriek of distorted sound tearing through the market, but it didn’t dissipate. The fire, my flame ink, seemed to barely singe its edges. It was too strong, too deeply rooted in the city's fear.
