Ichi unleashes his full flame ink power, while Kiko employs her hidden gravity and phase ink abilities. Their combined offensive is a dazzling, destructive spectacle.
The air crackled, not with the usual hum of Nervel’s vibrant energy, but with a raw, untamed power. It was the kind of energy that felt like a tightly coiled spring, ready to snap. My own internal spring had been wound to its limit for weeks, ever since the last skirmish, ever since *she* had… I shook my head, forcing the memory away. Now was not the time for ghosts. Now was the time for ink.
Before me, the Abstract of Fear writhed, a colossal, churning mass of midnight black. It pulsed with a sickening rhythm, each beat sending ripples of pure dread through the plaza. The stone beneath my boots felt slick, not with water, but with a viscous residue that clung like a second skin. Around us, the few remaining civilians who hadn't fled cowered behind overturned market stalls, their eyes wide with a terror that fed the beast. Local ink warriors, brave but outmatched, lay scattered, their ink reserves depleted, their bodies bruised.
“This is it,” I muttered, my grip tightening on the Great Brush. The weight of it, usually a comforting presence, felt like an anchor dragging me down. My flame ink, usually a loyal, searing companion, felt sluggish, hesitant. It was the fear, I knew. The city’s fear, and my own, bleeding into the ink, diluting its fire.
