Lyric had always thought of his father’s music as a roaring, glitter-dusted tidal wave. It crashed and thundered, leaving behind a shimmering residue of hairspray and power chords. His own music, the nascent growl of Crimson Reign The Legacy, was supposed to be a different kind of wave, something sharper, cleaner, and entirely his own. But then Talia Vela had walked into his orbit, a sun-drenched salsa beat in a world of denim and leather, and suddenly, the tide was turning in ways he hadn’t anticipated.

His invitation to jam had been a calculated risk, a dare to himself more than anything. He’d seen the way she moved, the effortless sway that seemed to hum with a different kind of energy, the way her laughter tinkled like tiny, exotic bells. He’d even caught snippets of her humming to herself, melodies that were unfamiliar yet undeniably catchy, a far cry from the guttural wails of his father’s era. He figured a few hours in a soundproof room, the usual cacophony of Crimson Reign, would be enough to satisfy his curiosity and, more importantly, solidify his own musical superiority. He’d put on his best, ‘effortlessly cool’ smirk and casually suggested she swing by the rehearsal space. He hadn't expected her to actually say yes.
