The air in The Viper Room crackled, thick with the scent of stale beer, cheap hairspray, and the electric anticipation of a thousand hungry eyes. It was the kind of place where legends were forged and dreams went to die, and tonight, Crimson Reign The Legacy was aiming for the former. Lyric Blackwell, draped in a black leather jacket that probably cost more than his rent, felt the familiar knot of nerves tighten in his stomach. This wasn't just another gig; this was *the* gig. The showcase. The one that could either propel them into the stratosphere or send them spiraling back to basement practices and lukewarm pizza.

He glanced at Jax, his drummer, who was meticulously tapping out a rhythm on his snare with a focused intensity that bordered on terrifying. Bruno, the bassist, was already lost in his own world, fingers dancing over his instrument as if it were an extension of his soul. Mason, the lead guitarist, looked impossibly cool, his guitar slung low, a smirk playing on his lips. They were ready. Or, at least, they looked ready. Lyric, however, felt a tremor of something more than stage fright. It was the echo of his father, Adrian Blackwell, the man whose ghost haunted every stage he stepped onto. *Velvet Venom*, they called him. Lyric just called him Dad. And Dad’s shadow was a long, dark one, perpetually cast over his son’s nascent rock star ambitions.

“Alright, boys,” Lyric said, his voice a low rumble that barely cut through the din. “Let’s show ‘em what Crimson Reign is made of. No messing about. This is it.”
