Lyric Blackwell, son of rock royalty, felt the weight of his father’s legacy pressing down on him like a ton of sequined spandex. Adrian Blackwell, frontman of the legendary glam-metal band Velvet Venom, was a god in Lyric’s world, a god who demanded sacrifices at the altar of pure, unadulterated rock and roll. And Lyric, blessed with his father’s killer looks and a voice that could shatter glass (or inspire stadium-wide singalongs), was supposed to be the heir apparent. But the heir apparent was getting tired of the same old gilded cage.

He’d cobbled together a band, a ragtag crew of aspiring rockers who shared his disillusionment with the predictable. Jax, the drummer, a whirlwind of controlled chaos behind his kit. Bruno, the bassist, a stoic anchor with a penchant for vintage leather. And Mason, the guitarist, whose fingers danced across the fretboard like lightning. They were good. Damn good. But they were still tethered to the echoes of Velvet Venom, to the booming riffs and anthemic choruses that were Adrian Blackwell’s bread and butter. Lyric craved something more, something… different.

Then Talia Vela walked into his life, a radiant supernova from a galaxy far away. She was new to Northwood High, a splash of vibrant color in the monochrome world of teenage angst and flannel shirts. Her music, a intoxicating blend of Latin rhythms and pop sensibilities, hit Lyric like a sonic boom. It was a language he didn’t fully understand, but one that sang to a part of his soul he hadn’t known existed. And Talia herself?
