Each leaf, each petal, seemed to pulse with a hidden energy, a secret life that was slowly unfurling before me. The sunlight, filtered through the aged glass, painted the dust motes dancing in the air with a golden glow, transforming the forgotten space into something utterly magical.

I ran my fingers over the velvety surface of a deep violet bloom, its petals unfurling like a whispered secret. A faint shimmer, like captured starlight, clung to its edges. As my touch lingered, a warmth spread through my fingertips, and a fleeting image flashed behind my eyes: a woman’s hand, much like my own, gently cradling this very flower. The memory was so brief, so indistinct, yet it felt strangely familiar, a ghost of a feeling I couldn’t quite grasp.

Silas stood nearby, his arms crossed, a familiar frown etched onto his weathered face. He watched me with an intensity that made my skin prickle. “They respond to you,” he grumbled, his voice like pebbles rolling in a dry creek bed. “More than they’ve responded to anyone in years.”
