The air in the Obsidian Maw was thick, a velvety darkness that pressed in on all sides, muffling even the gentle hum of Elara’s internal light. She’d expected it, of course. Elder Maeve’s warnings had been as stark as the void itself. But expectation was a fragile thing when faced with absence. Here, the luminous blocks that formed her world were not merely dimmed; they were *gone*. It was like stepping into a dream where the very concept of shape and form had been erased.

Lumin, a shimmer of pearlescent light that pulsed softly beside her, seemed unfazed. “Do not fear the emptiness, Elara,” its voice, a melodic whisper, echoed not in her ears, but directly in her mind. “Where light recedes, other senses awaken.”

Elara took a shaky breath, trying to focus. Her Pathfinder training kicked in, a familiar rhythm of observation and adaptation. Even without the glow of the blocks, she could feel their presence – a subtle resistance beneath her feet, a faint pressure against her fingertips as she reached out. They were there, just… hidden.
