The holographic schematic shimmered, a dizzying dance of light and line against the sterile white of Stevie's temporary lab. It was a blueprint, Thorne had assured her, a direct download from a compromised server belonging to one of Dilige's shell corporations. But as Stevie’s fingers traced the intricate pathways, a cold knot tightened in her stomach. This wasn't right. It was too neat, too… perfect.
"Anything, America?" Thorne's voice crackled through the comms, a welcome anchor in the rising tide of her unease. He was holed up at the command center, sifting through satellite imagery and potential escape routes for Dilige, a constant shadow of vigilance.
"It’s… a masterpiece, Thorne," Stevie replied, her voice carefully neutral. The words felt like ash in her mouth. She zoomed in on a central core, a pulsating nexus of energy depicted in a vibrant, almost seductive, cerulean. "The energy containment field alone is revolutionary. Dilige’s scientists have outdone themselves."
