The sterile white of the debriefing room did nothing to cool the heat that simmered beneath Stevie Green’s skin. The holographic projection shimmered, replaying the grainy footage for the tenth time. A city, vibrant and alive just moments before, now a smoldering crater. The timestamp flickered: ten years ago. The mission codename: Nightingale. Her codename then: Valkyrie.

“You were the only survivor, America,” Agent Thorne’s voice was a low rumble, devoid of judgment, yet heavy with unspoken history. He stood by the console, his gaze fixed on the screen, his face a mask of practiced neutrality. But Stevie saw the faint tightness around his eyes, the subtle clench of his jaw. He remembered too.

She didn't need him to say it. The phantom ache in her left arm, the one that had been nearly torn from its socket, was a constant reminder. The screams, the smell of burning flesh and ozone, the desperate, futile attempt to pull a fallen comrade from the wreckage… it was all etched into her memory, a scar deeper than any physical wound.
