The Resonator pulsed against Elara’s chest, a familiar warmth that had become as much a part of her as her own heartbeat. In the quiet aftermath of the Whispering Grove, where the very air still hummed with the lingering echoes of fractured melodies, she found herself drawn to its intricate surface. The polished wood, etched with symbols that seemed to writhe and shift in her peripheral vision, felt more alive than ever. It was a living thing, she was beginning to understand, a conduit not just for sound, but for the very essence of existence.
Kael sat across from her, his brow furrowed as he meticulously cataloged the few surviving fragments of the Grove’s ethereal music. His fingers, usually so deft, trembled slightly. “The dissonance… it was stronger there than anywhere else,” he murmured, his voice raspy. “Like a wound that refused to close.”
Elara nodded, her gaze fixed on the Resonator. In the Grove, something had shifted. The shadowy entity, the Weaver of Silence, had pushed her, and in doing so, had inadvertently awakened something within the Resonator itself. She felt it now, a subtle thrumming beneath the surface, a song waiting to be sung.
