The silence that followed the storm was not peace. It was the heavy, suffocating kind, the kind that presses down on your chest and makes it hard to breathe. The trailer, once a haven for fleeting pleasures and late-night revelries, now felt like a tomb. The air itself seemed to hum with a residual dread, a phantom echo of those faces, those *eyes*. The memory of their whispers, the guttural, inhuman sounds that had punctuated the night, still slithered through my mind. They weren’t just sounds; they were invitations, promises of a power I hadn't understood, a power that had sunk its teeth into me.
