Chapter 8
Sol's Fishy Dreams
While Luna and Stella are lost in the moon's enchanting serenade, Sol's thoughts, ever practical and food-oriented, drift back to the raven's earlier gift. He wiggles with delight, his tail thumping softly against the ground. 'This moon magic is amazing!' he yips, his eyes sparkling with excitement. 'I wonder,' he muses aloud, his voice full of playful wonder, 'if the moon can also make more fish appear? Or perhaps even tastier ones!' He looks up at the glowing orb, a hopeful glint in his eyes, imagining a sky filled not just with stars, but with an endless supply of delicious, wriggling treats.
The night air, cool and sweet, wrapped around Luna, Sol, and Stella like a soft blanket. Above them, the world had transformed. The sky, once a pale wash of fading blue, was now a canvas of deepest indigo, sprinkled with a million tiny, winking diamonds. And in the center of it all, a luminous pearl, the Moon, hung suspended, her glow a gentle caress upon their fur. Luna, her heart brimming with a wonder she couldn’t quite name, felt a deep resonance with the celestial orb. It was a feeling as old as the mountains, a quiet understanding that passed between her and the pale queen of the night.
Stella, nestled close to Luna, her small body trembling with a mixture of awe and a touch of lingering timidity, found solace in the Moon’s steady light. The ethereal melody that drifted from the heavens seemed to weave itself into her very being, soothing the last vestiges of her fear. She imagined the Moon singing just for her, a lullaby spun from starlight and moonlight, a promise of safety and love.
But Sol, ever the creature of boundless energy and immediate delights, was already drifting. The Moon’s song was beautiful, yes, and the sight of her was magnificent. Yet, his mind, a whirlwind of playful thoughts and insatiable curiosity, kept circling back to the earlier marvel. He remembered the raven, a flash of black against the bright day sky, and the incredible gift that had tumbled from his beak. Fish. Delicious, wriggling fish. His tail gave a little thump against the soft earth, a silent drumbeat of happy memory.
