The world below, once swaddled in the moon's soft, pearly embrace, now lay in a deeper, more shadowed slumber. The gentle luminescence that usually painted the sleeping forests and quiet towns had thinned, becoming a mere whisper against the velvet of the night. From my distant perch, a tiny, pinprick of light myself, I watched with a heart that felt far too large for my small celestial form. My own glow, usually a steady companion to the moon's grander display, seemed to dim in sympathy. It was as if a part of my own sky, my own essence, was being leached away, leaving a hollow ache in the vast expanse.

He had explained that the Moon, our gentle queen of the night, was simply weary. She had poured her light, her very soul, into the world for so long, a tireless guardian, a constant beacon. He had spoken of her beauty, not just the surface shimmer, but the deep, resonant radiance that came from within, a beauty that was sometimes forgotten even by herself. He had told me that sometimes, even the brightest lights needed to rest, to feel the quiet stillness, to remember the vastness of their own brilliance.
