Chapter 6
Whispers in the Dark
The Little Star, filled with empathy, floats closer to the dim Moon. She begins to whisper, reminding the Moon of the joy and guidance her light brings to the world.
The vast expanse of the inky canvas felt suddenly chill, a silence so profound it vibrated through my very core. From my perch, a single, shimmering point in the celestial tapestry, I had watched the Moon, my constant companion, begin to dim. It wasn't a gradual ebb and flow, like the gentle tides that pulled at the distant oceans I could only imagine. This was a surrender, a profound weariness seeping from her luminous being, leaving behind a void that swallowed the familiar silver luminescence. My own light, usually a steady, confident pulse, flickered with a disquiet I couldn't quite name, a tremor that echoed the Moon’s own fading. I felt it, a strange, hollow ache in my own starry heart, as if a piece of my own radiance was being siphoned away with hers.

I saw them stir, confused by the unfamiliar void where once there was guidance, a soft beacon to navigate by. A pang of empathy, sharp and clear, pierced through my nascent understanding of the cosmos. The Moon’s gentle light was more than just illumination; it was a lullaby, a promise of safety, a silent, comforting presence. And now, it was faltering.
My gaze, usually content to trace the familiar constellations, was drawn inexorably towards her. She hung there, a pale ghost of her former glory, her edges blurred, her once-vibrant glow reduced to a mere whisper. A profound sadness settled over me, a cosmic melancholy that felt too heavy for my young, incandescent form. It was then, as I watched the world below grope blindly in the absence of her light, that a quiet resolve began to bloom within me, like a tiny nebula coalescing from cosmic dust. The wise old Sun, with his boundless warmth and ancient knowledge, was the only one who could surely offer solace, an explanation, a solution to this celestial sorrow. I had to seek him out.
