Chapter 20
Sweet Memories
Back in the bakery, the Baker and his family never knew the adventure their creation had. But the memory of his delicious smell and the thought of his brave run lingered.
The scent of cinnamon and sugar still clung to the air in the little bakery, a ghost of the extraordinary event that had unfolded just beyond its walls. "A perfect batch, wouldn't you say, my dear?" the Baker said, his voice warm with pride. He nudged a tray of golden-brown loaves with his elbow. "Especially that last one. He had such a fine, cheerful face, didn't he?"
His wife chuckled, a sound like tiny bells. "Indeed, he did. And such a lovely aroma he gave off. I was just thinking, he would have been perfect with a cup of tea this afternoon." She sighed contentedly. "Another day, another delicious success."
