A Sly Fox Appears

Suddenly, a sly fox with a bushy tail appeared. 'Lost, little Gingerbread Man?' he asked with a charming smile. The Gingerbread Man felt a flicker of hope.

The Gingerbread Man, puffed up with pride and a dash of ginger spice, found himself perched on the cool sill. The world outside was a blur of green fields and big, friendly skies. He’d outrun the baker, the baker’s wife, and even a flock of startled sheep. His little legs, still warm from the oven, carried him with a spring in their step. He felt invincible, a tiny hero of his own making. The wind whispered secrets through the tall grass, and the sun painted golden stripes across his crisp, brown uniform. He’d never felt so alive, so free!

He was just about to take a moment to admire a particularly vibrant daisy when a shadow fell over him. It was long and lean, with a flash of orange fur. He looked up, his raisin eyes wide, and saw a fox. This was no ordinary fox, mind you. This fox was sleek, with a tail so bushy it looked like a flame. And his smile…oh, his smile was as bright and as wide as a slice of watermelon.

"Well, hello there, little fellow!" the fox purred, his voice like butter melting on toast. "You look a bit far from home. Lost, are we?"
